Yves Doare is an outstanding contemporary French artist, producing surreal landscapes and figurative work since 1966. While is also an accomplished painter, he is best known for his etchings and drypoint prints. Since his first exhibition, he has continuously exhibited in one man exhibits throughout Europe, as well as in New York. He is included in many museum collections, including the National Library of France, and the Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

Many of Doare's works explore the what he has called "a kind of geological memory." Much like Michaelangelo, he explores the surface of the etching plate in an effort to explore the forms and figures that are suggested there.

He is one of several French artists who emerged in the early 70’s for draughtmanship is paramount. The finely detailed line work of his prints is a reward for anyone who takes the time to follow them into the surrealistic landscapes he reveals.
