Kornelsen Rutherford was first introduced to printmaking while
studying with David Silverberg at Mount Allison University in Sackville,
New Brunswick. In 1978 she moved to Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova
Scotia and began by setting up a studio/ printshop in her home.
Through her first Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award in 1982
she attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design to further
study intaglio techniques under the instruction of Ed Porter. This
course began her shift from the chemical processes of etching to
more direct engraving processes of Mezzotint and Drypoint.
Her
work is represented in many public and corporate collections including
the Canada Council Art Bank, the Nova Scotia Art Bank, the Art
Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Hudson’s Bay Company.
