Frank Short

Frank Short (1857 - 1945) studied art in London, and became a master of all the engraving processes. He was eventually named president of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers (1910–39).

Sir Frank Short is noted for preserving information on the disappearing methods of mezzotint, and wrote them down for disseminating to other printmakers. While he did many prints after the works of prominent painters such as J.M.W Turner (one of the most famous projects being Turner's ‘Liber Studiorum’), he is also remembered for his original compositions, especially seascapes.

This print is signed in pencl by Short. Also signed by master Printer Goulding. This is done after an oil by J.M.W. Turner.
