Erik Desmazieres was born in Rabat, Morocco, in 1948
and resides in Paris. He is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques
de Paris and studied printmaking at the Cours du Soir de la Ville
de Paris. He is a member of La Societe des Peintres Graveurs Francais.
Erik Desmazieres is an intaglio printmaker of the Art Fantastique
school, whose artists find their aesthetic antecedents in Bresdin,
Piranesi, Callot and Durer.
Desmazieres's still lifes have an ethereal quality due to his close
attention to detail and his grasp of atmospheric light. His work has
enjoyed considerable success in the U.S. and is included in major
museum collections around the world. |
Erik Desmazieres was honored this year with a retrospective
of his work at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam.
The following five prints comprise the suite of prints which
the museum commissioned for the occasion. In addition
to the portfolio of prints, a catalogue raisonne is also being
published.
